AUDITIONS for the role of Pearl in an immersive version of The Scarlet Letter at the House of the Seven Gables
History Alive, Inc. in Salem announces auditions for the role of Pearl (female identifying, ages 5-9ish) for an immersive production of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s novel The Scarlet Letter, to be performed at The House of Seven Gables.
Pearl is the impish offspring of Hester Prynne and an undisclosed father. She is high energy, bold and a constant reminder to Hester of her unfavorable standing in Puritan Massachusetts in the early 17th century. We first meet Pearl as an infant, and then watch her grow into a nearly clairvoyant girl of about 9 years old. The role has about a dozen lines. We may cast multiple girls to play the part of Pearl as she grows.
Pearl auditions will consist of theatre games and some script readings. Sides of the script are available beforehand by request.
Auditions are on Wednesday, June 29th from 6:30-8:00at the House of the Seven Gables. Please RSVP with a photo (no need for a professional headshot) and plan to bring costume measurements with you. Auditioners and their parents should plan to be there for the whole hour and a half.
There’s nothing to memorize in advance, though it may help to familiarize auditioners with the basic story.
