Call For Art: ArtoberFest”

An exhibit exploring Salem’s history with Autumn, Halloween, Witchcraft, and the Spirit of the season. The resulting exhibit represents diverse interpretations of the theme and how, by bringing them together, we create a collective understanding of it.

Open Exhibit Call for Art: Both Member and Non-Member artists may submit works.

IMPORTANT DATES:

  • Drop Off Submissions:  Sunday, September 10, 2023, 12:00 – 4:00 PM
  • Notification of inclusion/exclusion:  Notification by email by Thursday, September 14, 2023. 
  • Pick up of unaccepted work: Any work not accepted will need to be picked up Saturday, September 16, 2023, 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. 
  • Reception: Friday September 15, 2023, 6:00 – 8:00 PM
  • Exhibition Dates: September 16 – November 11, 2023
  • Gallery Hours are every Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 – 6:00 p.m.
  • Pick Up of Artwork: Sunday, November 12, 2023, 12:00 – 4:00 PM

In order to insure the safety of our members during the Covid-19 pandemic we are requiring that all artists follow these guidelines:

Arrive with your artwork, printed forms, and submission fees ready. 

Be Sure to Have all of your paperwork and payment ready at Drop Off.  If you are a member, make sure your membership is up-to-date.

Exhibition Jurying: 

Exhibit Chairpersons and Salem Arts Gallery Committee will curate this exhibit. Criteria will be based on execution quality and space available. Every effort will be made to include as many submissions as possible.

John Andrews

John Andrews, the founder and managing director of Creative Collective, firmly believes in the transformative power of creativity. His dedication to using creative solutions for complex problems has helped various industries, cities, and businesses improve their productivity and community relations.

John is an expert at bridging divides, uniting diverse groups of people to work towards a common goal. He values diversity and inclusion and believes the best creative outcomes stem from multiple perspectives. At Creative Collective, he devotes a significant amount of time to educating about the contributions of creative professionals to local economies and communities. He organizes and executes projects to strengthen the bonds between cultural preservation, economic development, and arts in towns, businesses, and organizations.

John Andrews is a dynamic force for organizations and cities looking to enhance their performance and community engagement through creativity. As a constant learner, he tirelessly seeks out novel approaches to employ creativity in solving problems. His rich experience in the arts and his interaction with business communities and city leaders give him a unique perspective on creative problem-solving.

Submission Criteria: This exhibit is open to current Salem Arts member artists who may submit work in any medium for the juror’s consideration. This exhibit encourages artists to submit artworks that adhere to our theme. Work created at any time is eligible for display. 

Salem Arts Gallery Committee representatives will curate this exhibit. Criteria will be based on execution quality, presentation/framing, and space availability.

Submission Fees:

Current Salem Arts members fee is $10.00 per item submission.
Non-member fee is $15.00 per item submission
First Item FREE for “Masters Circle” Artist Members
All artists may submit up to THREE items.
All mediums, including 2D, 3D, and multi-media are accepted.
