Call for Art – Wonder and Whimsy: Portal to the Fey Realm

Hello one and all and welcome of Wonder and Whimsy: Portal to the Fae realm. I invite you now to close your eyes and imagine the colors and contours of your most fantastic dreams.

Delight in their playful shapes, stand in awe of their beauty, and gasp at the horror of your own most sacred nightmares. This is a call to look within yourself and brave the twisting corridors of your own psyche.

We Fae Folk, or faeries, are creatures of tempestuous emotion, and you are encouraged to dare beckon us with creations that represent your most powerful feelings and deepest yearnings. We are also creatures of great vanity and so depictions of us or any other orders of flora and fauna from the Dreamlands will be highly prized.

You are cordially invited to come to the Gallery at LynnArts on the dates of July 5, 6, and 7 to give us your name and art so that it may be displayed for the opening reception on the evening of July 21. We look forward to seeing you, and keeping you…

Imagery – mushrooms, berries, trees, misty lakes, rainbows, butterflies, dragonflies, creatures that are a mashup of other creatures (chimera is the word for that), woodland animals in hats and trousers, fountains, circles, arches, twisting branches, colored clouds, theater masks, start, moons.

Themes – lost/regained youth, deep emotion (sadness is sorrow, pain is anguish, anger is rage, humor is hysteria, happiness is ecstasy), transformation, hidden worlds, dreamscapes.

Mood – whimsical and light, dark and stormy, usually those 2 extremes.

Drop off your work in person on one of the following dates to have it juried:

Friday, July 7th- 10:00am-1:00pm

Saturday, July 8th- 12:00-4:00pm or by appointment
