Joe Jencks — Chris LaVancher opens
International touring musician Joe Jencks will appear Saturday, November 19 as part of the Old Sloop Presents performing arts series. The performance will be in the handicap-accessible Fellowship Hall of the First Congregational Church of Rockport, 12 School St. at 7:30pm. New England singer-songwriter Chris LaVancher will open the show.
Joe Jencks is an award-winning songwriter and celebrated vocalist known for his performances of musical beauty, social consciousness, and spiritual exploration. Merging conservatory training with his Irish roots and working-class upbringing, Joe delivers engaging musical narratives filled with heart, soul, groove and grit. Joe’s most recent solo CD – The Coming of the Years – is a synergistic blend of Jencks’ Irish and Celtic heritage with themes of immigration spanning multiple generations.
Opener Chris LaVancher grew up in the hills of north central Pennsylvania where he observed the many wonderful characters that inhabited his little town, and his songs reflect their challenges: family difficulties, work, love and love lost, childhood memories, and finding one’s place in the universe.
