“PROTECTING OUR PRACTICE AND CREATIVE SELF” W/ NGOC-TRAN VU
Wednesday, February 1, 2023 | 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM (in Zoom)
Amidst the pandemic, on-going systemic racism, and extractive capitalism, artists and creatives are severely impacted. In this session, we will discuss best practices and actionable items to recognize and intentionally protect ourselves and our practices from further exploitation. Participants will strategize techniques for self-advocacy and boundary-setting, including best practices for negotiation, how to say “no”/ ”not right now,” ensuring timely and fair compensation, and ways we might break out of counter-productive habits of perfectionism, people-pleasing, and the mindset that we must do everything ourselves. Together we will build safeguards for our time, energy, and emotional labor while advocating for fair compensation.
Suitable for artists of all disciplines. 75 live participants max.
Presented with the City of Boston’s Office of Arts & Culture.
