Continuing the Legacy of Working Artists on Cape Ann

The Manship Artists Residency + Studios (MARS) is a public charity dedicated to the preservation of an environmentally-significant site, the historic residence + studios of sculptor Paul Manship, creator of the Prometheus Fountain at Rockefeller Center, NYC.

The Manship estate, known as Starfield, has been given new life as an international, interdisciplinary artists residency for the benefit of the community and visitors to Cape Ann.

Manship Artists recognizes that artists bring their unique vision to help expand our perspective; artists help us see the world in ways we might never have imagined on our own. Artists, like scientists and others working in the social sciences and humanities,  are innovative thinkers and use their keen observation and analytic skills to discover new ways to express the truth as they find it. Manship Artists values those who challenge us to think differently and aims to create an environment where creativity and questions are encouraged and where all are welcome.
