Sophia Dunzelman is an interdisciplinary artist from Jackson, New Jersey. Though painting is at the root of her practice, her body of work extends across disciplines into video, body painting, photography and digital collage.
The idiosyncrasies that make something or someone up become clearest when put through a cycle of destruction and creation. Within my practice I put myself and the pieces through this cycle to better learn how express.
When a piece leaves my working space I become more interested in what others take away from it. I want the work to open an environment that others feel welcome to respond too. What happened within myself when creating the work is of no importance to anyone except myself. I am not a portrait artist.
The work can be a coping mechanism, a vehicle for expression, an explanation, or just something. I am a sucker for endless potential.
