The Call
The Rocky Neck Art Colony (RNAC) invites artists to submit work for inclusion in H2O:A Deep Dive, an open juried exhibition at the Cultural Center at Rocky Neck, in Gloucester, Massachusetts, and online at RNACexhibitions.com.
Water / Ice / Steam — The 3 states of matter exhibited by H2O, each easily observable in our daily lives. It is in every living cell on earth, acting as the necessary transport for all vital functions. From a wider vantage point we observe the solid ice of winter yielding to the green of spring, evaporation from summer’s heat returning as rainstorms and cold fall frosts. As the water flows, so follows life, its primacy reflected throughout the world’s arts, religions, mythologies, sciences, and economies.
With our exhibit “H2O: A Deep Dive”, The Rocky Neck Art Colony looks to explore how we know water through an artistic lens. We ask artists to probe the subject of water and engage viewers to think about and appreciate the importance of it in our world. While seascapes and other water views are welcome, we encourage artists to explore the theme from EVERY angle. We welcome works of all mediums.
“If there is magic on this planet, it is contained in water.”- Loren Eiseley.
