The Cape Ann ARTWaves family invites you to enjoy the final episode of the program featuring Rebecca Reynolds, Executive Director and co-founder of Manship Artists Residency and Studios (MARS).    It’s fitting that the program ends with an interview with an individual and institution that will help perpetuate Cape Ann as a welcoming home for artists well into the future.

In this episode, the co-producers /co-hosts of CAAW, Kristine Fisher and Jacqueline Ganim-DeFalco share some exciting news!  Going forward the shows will have an important new home, the Cape Ann Museum (CAM).  The CAM will be the official steward of the shows recorded since 2020 and will be integrated into the museum archives under the direction of Trenton Carls, Head Librarian & Archivist.  Over 75 artists, makers, curators, and gallerists have been interviewed in 30–45-minute segments.   They include a diverse group across genres, levels of experience, and personal history and connection to Cape Ann.

The show was initially conceived to keep the arts front and center during the Pandemic.  Fisher and Ganim-DeFalco took the lead as volunteer member-producers with 1623 Studios to bring the show to life.  Due to high demand and viewership, the show outlived the Pandemic and  was continued in 2021 and 2022 with the final episode airing this month.  CAAW enjoyed over 16,000 views on YouTube, nearly 10,000 on Facebook in its initial months of 2020, and many thousands of viewers on local cable Channel 12.   As it transitions to the Cape Ann Museum, please look out for updates from seARTS.

To further extend the life of the show, the producers are working on a series of highlights reels (by year) to capture the essence of each interview.  The goal is to tease the viewer with a taste of the wide variety of artists who live and work here.   The video series, sponsored by Cape Ann Savings Bank, will be available later this year for use by the arts and tourism communities and any of Cape Ann’s cultural and civic institutions.   It’s particularly exciting to be able to integrate these important “stories” into the mix of Gloucester’s 400 celebration.

The producers would like thank the faithful viewers, artists, and partners that have made the show come to life since the Spring of 2020!   Among our sponsors and partners from the beginning are: Prince Insurance Agency, M. Kristine Fisher Visual Artist, Martha Anger Real Estate Advisor, Protective Packaging, Inc., The Common Crow Natural Market and in 2021, McDermott-McCarthy Real Estate.  Community partners include Video services from, Anders Johnson, all of the 1623 Studios platforms and seARTS and we enjoyed the musical talents of Steve Lacey and Pat Verga, and graphic design from Linda Stockman.
